After several years in international business with BAT Industries, Russell founded Bragg & Co in 1989, co-founded Premier Resorts in 1997, and both The World’s Finest Resorts and The Golf Consultants Association in 2002. He now specialises in residential and hospitality property sales and marketing and over the years he has helped many property developers to launch and bring their projects to value.
Some of Russell’s higher profile clients include Gleneagles, Celtic Manor and Champneys in the UK, Aphrodite Hills in Cyprus, CampoReal in Portugal and Anahita in Mauritius. He was one of a team of three from the GCA chosen to guide The Welsh Tourist Board on their 10 Year Plan for Golf in Wales in the run in to The Ryder Cup in 2010.
Russell has helped launch Ensaara Metropark, a 3,800-property (5,000 with social housing) new town development in Nagpur, India with a GDV of US$800m. The launch achieved US$65m of pre-sales income, sufficient to cover general infrastructure costs for the project and all construction costs for the pre-sales properties including a 200-bed hospital and 2,000-pupil school.
He relaunched Pullwood Bay, a 50-acre property of 22 second homes in the Lake District, selling out in just two years against bank expectations of a 4-year sales programme. Lettings occupancy increased from 50% per annum to 60% in the same period.
Russell lead an advisory team of consultants, architects, quantity surveyors and interior designers to advise the underwriters of The Conrad, Algarve, Portugal, on the potential income and return on its stalled €80m GDV residences project.
He has helped a number of luxury hotels to launch either themselves or their conference facilities – e.g. The Samling and Celtic Manor respectively – and a number of other luxury hotels to boost their occupancy and yield while reducing third party referrals, e.g. The Linthwaite, Rudding Park, The Athenaeum and Champneys.
Russell has also helped Wildwood Golf & Country Club to find new owners to develop an 84-bed hotel, conference centre, spa, PGA regional head office and 39 golf lodges in a purchase and development financing deal worth £40m.
Russell is a member of the judging panel for the International Property Awards.
